CUBRC

Building a website worthy of high-stakes researchers

CUBRC began as a small research nonprofit run by three passionate innovators back in 1983. Today, it has more than 200 employees dedicated to advancing the country’s defense, intelligence and security sectors. However, its website failed to keep up with the organization’s progress over the last five decades.

The Project
Repositioning the online identity of a premier research nonprofit

CUBRC’s previous website was long, outdated and difficult to navigate, with a focus on where the organization had been, rather than where it was headed. CUBRC’s research and development work addresses some of the nation’s highest-stakes threats, but the site simply didn’t reflect the nonprofit’s work or the people who do it. The goal of the website refresh was to create an accurate representation of the nonprofit online, serving as a validator and attracting the top-tier talent CUBRC depends on.

Our Approach
Bringing strategy, design and development together

We kicked off this project by developing messaging framework that defined CUBRC as an innovative, multidisciplinary and ethical organization. That foundation guided the content we wrote, which gave voice to CUBRC’s three distinct departments and matched the sophistication of the work they do.

A sleek, modern aesthetic and intuitive navigation replaced what had been clunky and outdated, giving a world-class research organization a website that finally looked the part.
