Streamlining customer experience for a historic retreat

The Glen Iris Inn needs no introduction. The beautiful estate hosts diners, overnight guests and wedding receptions from its location atop Letchworth State Park’s Middle Falls. Historic charm is just what these visitors are looking for. However, historic and outdated are two very different things, and the Glen Iris Inn’s website was definitely outdated.

Sure, you could call to book a room at the Inn or ask about having your wedding ceremony overlooking the Falls. But that meant the staff at the Glen Iris Inn spent a lot of time answering phone calls.

Parkway approached the Glen Iris Inn’s website redesign with a few goals in mind. First, we wanted to modernize the website in a way that complemented the Inn’s unique characteristics. We thought carefully about the Inn’s recently refreshed brand as well as its rich history before landing on a warm and welcoming design that could still offer the features today’s users expect, like a responsive design and crystal clear navigation.

Digitizing the booking experience

Then, we incorporated a call to action throughout the website, including the home page and navigation, encouraging website visitors to book online. Rather than calling the Inn, users can now input the dates of their desired stay into a form built specifically for this purpose. The information is automatically imported into the Inn’s booking system, where users complete the booking process.

In the two months since the website’s launch, an incredible 15% of website visitors have started the booking process online. Not only is the Inn filling its rooms, but it’s doing so without speaking to each prospective visitor on the phone. This saves the staff at the Glen Iris Inn time every single day. This time can now be used to ensure guests have an incredible experience at the estate’s restaurant and accommodations!
