Parkway’s Christmas list: 3 Wishes for the holidays

Let’s be real. Most of us grownups want to experience the magic of the holidays just as much as kids do. Everyone has something they’d like to add to their Christmas list–whether literal or figurative. We certainly have wishlists, as well as hopes for this holiday season.

Chris

What’s one physical thing you want for Christmas?

Abs. Now that my summer sports are long over and I’ve started gaining weight again, I went back to the gym. So if I could just have abs without the whole “working out” thing, that would be great.

What’s one experience you hope to have this holiday season?

I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with my siblings. We all have such busy schedules I feel like we don’t hang out enough.

What’s something you’re hoping for during the holidays?

Calm. Last year the holidays were hectic with travel and COVID, so I am looking forward to a relaxing holiday season.

Rob

What’s one physical thing you want for Christmas?

An Elgato programmable macro keyboard. I’m a sucker for efficiencies gained through buttons.

What’s one experience you hope to have this holiday season?

I look forward to Christmas Eve, surrounded by friends and family, enjoying one of the best meals of the year.

What’s something you’re hoping for during the holidays?

With all the conflict around the world today, I’m hoping for some progress towards world peace.

What’s one physical thing you want for Christmas?

Muck Boots: This is our first winter with our huskies and we are gearing up to spend a lot more time outside in the cold than in past years. We all know that as soon as your feet are cold, it’s game over, so Muck Boots are at the top of my Christmas list.

What’s one experience you hope to have this holiday season?

Christmas Eve service: Christmas, as we celebrate it today, is more of a cultural holiday than a religious one. However, I’m a sucker for a candlelit Christmas Eve church service. The songs, the emotions—even the smell—are incredibly nostalgic and really make it feel like Christmas to me. Plus, my family would always drive through nearby neighborhoods afterward looking at everyone’s Christmas lights.

What’s something you’re hoping for during the holidays?

New traditions: This is our first Christmas married and in our first house. I’m hoping we start a tradition or two of our own this year!

I’ll take anything Tottenham Hotspur related – Kits, scarfs, Spurs Retro Cockerel Statue (total height: 30cm) costing $72, clothing, or other memorabilia – but you know, nothing specific.

What’s one experience you hope to have this holiday season?

I can’t wait to spend the first Christmas in our new home this year. Getting a Christmas tree (it has to be a real tree that you cut down yourself!), decorating the house, watching the snow fall outside the window, and baking Christmas cookies are all part of the total Christmas package for me that I’m really looking forward to experiencing.

What’s something you’re hoping for during the holidays?

My son is getting to the age where he understands what Christmas is and what that means so it will be so much fun to see how he reacts to the decorations, traditions and atmosphere. I hope to see him have a magical Christmas experience.

What’s one physical thing you want for Christmas?

An Oxford Pennant gift card to support my unhealthy obsession.

What’s one experience you hope to have this holiday season?

I’m no longer pregnant, so I’m hoping to get my butt in some ice skates for a long awaited romp around the rink!

What’s something you’re hoping for during the holidays?

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I’m hoping for a true Buffalo snowfall… the one where Lake Erie dumps a good amount of that extra fluffy powder (preferable on or near Christmas Day).

Jenni

What’s one physical thing you want for Christmas?

All the local coffee shop gift cards, please. Support local by supporting my caffeine addiction… and my plant addiction. I’ll never say no to more plant babies. I’m also becoming obsessed with Oxford Pennant like the rest of the Parkway team, so we can just add that to the list.

What’s one experience you hope to have this holiday season?

Last winter my girls and I did a lot of rock climbing at Central Rock Gym and we really enjoyed it, so I hope we can get back there! I also want to visit more local bookshops and attend more local theater productions.

What’s something you’re hoping for during the holidays?

I hope my little family can experience smooth holiday transitions when it comes to hopping from house to house for Christmas. Co-parenting has been tough this year and I just want my girls to feel the magic of Christmas without any silly drama!

Summer

What’s one physical thing you want for Christmas?

One of my goals for the new year is to get back into consistent journaling. I’d like to get a guided journal like One Question a Day, which poses a mix of commonplace and contemplative questions daily for five years.

What’s one experience you hope to have this holiday season?

It’s been a few years since I took a trip up to Toronto. The city’s Christmas market is second to none, so I’d love to do a mini weekend getaway up there for a stroll in the historic Distillery District.

What’s something you’re hoping for during the holidays?

If there’s a hope I always have for the holidays, it’s for a white Christmas. The more snow, the better. There’s nothing that makes the holidays feel like just another day to me than a green Christmas.

David

What’s one physical thing you want for Christmas?

Power tools. I need them, but I don’t want to spend money on them. Oh, and safety gear…

What’s one experience you hope to have this holiday season?

My wife and I are spending our first Christmas in our new home. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

What’s something you’re hoping for during the holidays?

I’m hoping that everyone is able to enjoy a happy and healthy holiday season. Being sick during Christmas stinks.
